5An Inticing, Educational FUN Game  Dec 06, 2007 By Lucinda Parker "AZfarmer"
As an old gamer(literally) I am very new to the Nintendo DS Lite system and games. Shoot em ups and fast action requiring a lot of button manipulation are not my style. This game uses the stylus almost entirely with only scrolling with the buttons. I love animals and many years ago thought of becoming a vet, so I gave this game a try.

The graphics and sound are impressive. It is scientifically accurate in the description of the animals as well as 'cures' for the animals. It does make you think as to causes of ailments and the mini games within are challenging but not impossible with the stylus and older hands. It truly is fun!

The 8-12 group will love this game, and learn a lot along the way. Saving the game is easy. Restarting a new game is easy. Sound isn't mandatory to play the game, which is good if you're playing where sound would be a problem, yet the sounds and music do add an element of fun.

Definitely worth the money.

5Addicting game  Nov 09, 2007 By Rachel Reese
This game can be addicting. I brought it because I love animals. In this game your character is an intern at the zoo and helps the character's Aunt Lucy to treat different types of zoo animals such as: a zebra, elephant, panda, snake, buffalo, koala, turtle, wolf, and so on. You treat the animals by doing different mini games. A must buy for people who love animals and/or want to become a vet.

2Unrealistic and repetitive....  Jan 05, 2008 By K. L. Zedeker "shopaholic"
I typically love games for the DS that heavily rely upon the stylus for gameplay. This game, however, was not fun for me.

As previously mentioned, you are an intern at a zoo. You start off with a set number of animals in the zoo that thankfully, only become sick one at a time. After you treat the sick animal, you are rewarded with a new animal's arrival at the zoo. Eventually you will also begin to earn awards such as "African Animal Expert" etc.

The game is good in that the graphics are nice. There are very realistic looking- and sounding- animals here. A hyena looks and sounds like a hyena, etc. There are also facts about each animal that you can read up on such as diet, habitat, etc.

One of the main problems I had with the game is that it is not realistic at all. Actual veterinarians would laugh at the treatments administered here. Of course it's a game and I don't expect it to be completely realistic, but come on. How many spoons do I have to yank out of something's digestive track before the zoo employees stop leaving them around to be eaten? How many snakes and lizards do I need to treat for *sweating* when reptiles don't even have sweat glands? An animal broke it's leg? No problem. Simply move the bone pieces back into place and the animal will be fine. No cast required. A komodo dragon is uncomfortable? Simply pet it to relieve it's stress (pet a komodo dragon in real life and you will lose a hand). I have games like Cooking Mama and Trauma Center which simulate cooking and surgery quite well and far more realistic than what is being depicted here.

Realism would not matter so much if the gameplay was actually fun. It is fun for about the first hour. But after playing for an hour or so, I had already unlocked all the extra animals and I kept doing the same procedures over and over again. I literally removed about 10 spoons from 10 different animals all in the same exact way. The same goes for the other procedures. For example, If a bird, lizard, or lion has a broken leg, you will repair it in the exact same way every time. This got monotonous very quickly. Once the new animals are unlocked, the only thing left to do is keep treating sick animals so that you can earn your award trophies. But there's really no point to the game, no way to "win".

I am an animal lover and I was really wanting to like this game. I thought this would be more of a simulator on what it's like to be a vet---it's not. Good game for kids, not so much for adults.

5Realistic and interesting  Mar 12, 2008 By Maryssa
My boyfriend got me this game as a present, and although there are many other animal games out there -pet vet, dogz, etc. this is game that adults can enjoy without worry that it's too childish. Minus the storyline, with free-roaming play, it is similar to Trauma Center games. There are animated animals, interesting facts about them, and each one must be diagnosed and treated before new animals can arrive. The only thing I would say that they could have improved on is by adding more animals and more than one save file for replay and multiple players. The game continues as you treat some of the same animals each time with a different problem in order to gain badges of competence in each animal category. Some ailments include; broken bones, parasites, swallowing foreign objects, viruses, or just under/over weight problems.

44 stars  Feb 09, 2008
I give this game 4 stars. It is overall very fun and I love the setting. I want to be a vet and I love the game because of that. Most games are boring but I love this and it never gets boring. This came has pretty good graphics and the sounds are awsome. This came can never be beat, but you stop getting new animals once you complete it. You have to fix all animals the same way, bet you deal with teeth, eyes, bones, heart beat, cuts, ticks, and much more. Overall this came gets a four star.
