I've got rather large hands, so whenever I play my DS Lite, I got horrible hand cramps after a short amount of time. It was a borderline nightmare.
So one day, my friend saw this on store shelves, and bought it for me. It's proved to be even better than I'd thought, with the built-in extra battery and the grip both making my DS lite a great deal easier to play. It makes it a little larger so I can't slip my DS into my pocket or anything, but being able to carry around my DS didn't matter much if it got too uncomfortable to play for more than half an hour, and making the DS bigger is also sort of the point.
If you're like me and your hands are just too big for your DS lite, this is the perfect solution. I've been using it for over a month now, and it's definitely made a huge difference.

I picked this up for $10 on special at a local gamestore, and I'd say it is the best $10 I've ever spent on an accessory for a game system, portable or otherwise. The double-edged sword of the Lite has always been its size. It's fantastic that it's so small, but it's also murder on adult hands after a while.
So not only does this little device give some great ergonomic grips for the DS, it's a friggin portable charger that uses the DS's own AC adapter. Seriously, I love the people at Nyko. :)
I have been using my DS for a solid 10 hours without plugging it into the wall. I played DQM:Joker till the red power light kicked in, I flipped the switch on the grips which let the DS charge while I played it, when the DS charge light went off, I turned off the grip and continued playing. So basically I got double the battery life, PLUS there's still juice in the grips!
Even Amazon's price of $14 is amazing for such a great product. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it only comes in white, which means my wife's black & red DS has to wait a while for fashion's sake. I have to get back to capturing more monsters in DQM...

I'm glad I bought this for my daughter. She plays her DS non-stop therefore, the battery is always dead. It's convenient to have this rechargable battery handy. What's cool is that you can charge the DS and the battery at the same time.

On recommendations posted here on Amazon, I found this item at a game store and decided to give it a try. If it hadn't been for the reviews here, I'm not even sure I would have known what it was! But I did and I got one!
I highly recommend it. It really does make holding the DS lite for long periods of time better and as for the extra charge, so far that is working great too.
I have been charging the DS and the charger grip together and they are doing well.
Unfortunately, my DS is crimson and black, so the white charger grip really stands out - but for the absolute comfort and extra power it provides, it has been money well spent.

This grip is very comfortable and feels very solid. The locking method via multiple points is also very calming. I might note that neither the official website nor the manual claim that the device employs Lithium Ion batteries; it uses NiMH.
Unfortunately I have had trouble with the charging function. After charging the unit until the light turned off, it only charged my DS for a few minutes before ceasing. After which it was perhaps 20 minutes of extra play before the DS's red light popped back on. the process was repeated each time with the same results. Add to this that my official Nintendo charger no longer functions with the DS after being plugged into the nYko grip.
I'm hoping that this is just a faulty item and the majority perform as advertised.
