Surprisingly FUN! Nov 07, 2008
By Alanna Evans The Littlest Pet Shop game trilogy for the Nintendo DS are all fairly similiar. They likely have "exclusive" pets to each system or whatnot, but all three levels - garden, jungle and winter - are unlockable in every version. So you really only need the one. The pet plaza is where you will be spending most of your time, as it is the central hub for buying tickets for pets to come join your menagerie, buying playsets to unlock more mini games and other activities.
Graphics are sweet, cute and fitting for the Littlest Pet Shop. The characters look like pet shop animals which is a real plus for fans of the franchise. Most of the action takes place in the "worlds" which are nice looking but a bit busy. Its sometimes hard to pick out certain interactive objects from the busy backgrounds (such as the sign that takes you to other worlds). The pets themselves are animated nicely, with horses that neigh and bunnies that hop. They can be moved between the four levels whenever you like after you unlock them. The pets can be dressed up with accessories, renamed and you can pet them/feed them, the very minimal of virtual pet upkeep, which leaves time for other things.
Such as minigames!! You unlock a variety of mini games just by playing. So far, my daughter (who is four) her favorites are the balloon pop mini game (throw darts at balloons), the nut mini game (tap nuts to keep them from hitting your animal friends), and the matching one (match up blocks of colors with animal faces). There's also a coloring one, but it only has about a dozen different pictures, kind of disappointing. There are some mini games that would appeal to older children as well. A few mini games are utter rubbish such as their attempt at a "rhythm-music" mini game that fails on so many levels...
In fact, the entire game demands alot of reading for playing on one's own, and the game seems more suited to the 6 and up crowd, but younger children will have fun just moving the animals around and trying their hand at the mini games.
Overall, its a much more solid offering than one would expect from a licensed title, and given how much kids love the Littlest Pet Shop brand, it would have been an easy copout to slap together a game and call it a day (and watch the sales rack up). However, alot of thought has gone into making this an authentic "Littlest Pet Shop" experience, and thus gets a high recommendation from both myself and my daughter.

Loved it Dec 30, 2008

My eight year old daughter loves this game. I bought it for her for a long car ride and she played it for 4 hours straight. You get all the worlds unlocked eventually, so it doesn't matter which game you buy. They all have Garden, Jungle, Winter, etc. She says it one of her favorite ds games and she has plenty of them.

Great for little kids Feb 26, 2009
By Brandie Cockrell My six year old loves this game. She has minimal reading ability and yet can still operate this game fairly well. Lots of mini games on it that are "short and sweet" and therefore, are great for the little ones. Thumbs up from happy six year old and her mama.

Perfect for girls of all ages! Jun 16, 2009
By R. Reagan I bought this game for my three daughters - Age 10, Age eight and age four and they ALL love it! The game does a fantastic job of having something for everyone! My older girls ADORE the pets and seeing how they'll play the various games, while my youngest could spend all day in the coloring mode. The thing I love is that I'm never handed the game in order to get past "hard stuff." Too many games made for young girls seem to have no clue regarding play difficulty, but this game does a fantastic job of keeping things just right! If you have Pet Shop fans in your household, I don't see how they could not love this game!

great game Sep 12, 2009 I bought this for my second grader and she loves it. She really likes LPS toys, and the game is right on target for her. The games are challenging enough that she doesn't get a blue ribbon on her first try, but not so hard that she gives up. This game was well worth the money I paid for it.
