My 6 and 9 year olds love it! Jun 30, 2010 A previous reviewer said your six-year-old may not like it, as it's a strategy game. This made me laugh as my six-year-old son recently begged me for another copy, so that he and his brother can each have their own. This is like WarCraft, which they also loved until I banned it. This game is as much fun, but the images aren't as realistic -- just didn't think my kids needed to see the real-looking people in WarCraft engaging in, well, war. Lego Battles is a high quality game that keeps them engaged on even the longest overseas air flights.
9 year old son LOVES it Jun 22, 2010 I agree that this is not the typical lego game of battle people and they fall to pieces so you can move on to the next level. It takes strategy to create your worlds and advance. My son went through lots of trial and error as he experimented with how to protect his king and create a civilization that is safe but has needed living conditions. He really enjoys the game. I'm very pleased with the purchase.
Fun Strategy Game Apr 13, 2010 Fun strategy game. It might be a little complicated for younger kids, but my 8 1/2 year old understands it. Our whole family has joined in on the fun. To play multiplayer you each need your own game. Lots of fun.
Ehhh it's ok... Mar 16, 2010 I bought this game knowing that it was a strategy game, however, the DS was just not a good venue for the game. The graphics were itty bitty and pixelated, and the game was a little difficult and very redundant. I would not recommend this game to people who love the other Lego games
NOT MEANT FOR YOUNGER KIDS Mar 15, 2010 This Lego game is different from all the other Lego games on the market. This one is purely a strategy game. I thought it was fun and liked the model but my younger sons (8 & 6) did not enjoy it as much. It sits on the shelf more then it is played.
The purpose of this game is to think up winning strategies. You need to build the right army composed of pirate, castle and space Lego figures, figure out the right strategy to defeat your enemy and secure your base. The actual battles that take place occur automatically and the player has no control over it. The battle plays out based on the strategy used by the player which makes for an interesting game for older kids but not so much for younger ones; especially those that are familiar with the usual Lego games where the player has direct control over the fighting.
I think this game needs to be more direct about its features to reach the right market. My sons were disappointed by this game and I felt the advertising was misleading. It will be a great game for them in the years to come and they will learn to appreciate it. I would recommend this game to kids 10+.
