3It's an OK game  Jul 29, 2010
The graphics are really good, the opening sequence has the nice KHII music, but the game's mission style isn't all that great and doesn't allow for that much freedom. I feel like the game traps me in a way..I bought it for the story, but it's not all that captivating. It's fun, but I stil haven't played in months just because it's not a game I'm engrossed in..There are better rpgs on DS..unless you're a die hard KH fan I wouldn't get this one..

4Worth it!!  Jul 23, 2010
This game is a great intallment into the story! I must say I really enjoyed this game. but i bit of caution. if u haven't played Kingdom hearts 1 or 2....doesn't matter which one...u will be completely lost in the story. There aren't very many Final Fantasy characters showing up in this "days" either. But the game is fun from beginning to end.

4Can we please get a new console version?!?!?!?!  Jul 21, 2010
I have loved the Kingdom series since the first game and I love this game as well. This game took a lot of what made the console games great and removed it to tell a story that is uniquely about organization 13. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to take the kingdom with me wherever i went but I cannot wait till we get a full length console title. If the battle system is anything like it may be on a console version nothing much has changed. But the ability slots are a great new feature and I really enjoyed it. This will hold me over till we get a full release but I still want more!!!!!!!

5Best Game Ever!  Jul 21, 2010
I really liked the game. But, when I got it, I thought it was going to be like the others, no new characters. Not true! All the characters are deepened and have a little more information about themselves. And so every character seems new! But they continued and added a totally new character. I loved it. You should know that the themes show the character. Although you really hear 2, maybe 3.
I did have a few things I didn't like about it. The graphics weren't that good. And some of the missions were difficult. But I recommend it to anyone.

3Monotonous, Monotonous, Monotonous...  Jul 21, 2010
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 days is the 4th original installment in the series. It follows the story of Roxas up until the events of Kingdom Hearts II. the story mode is divided into "days", where you have a goal, and once you complete that goal, you can move on to the next goal.

Your action controls are a sort of live-action rpg menu system, almost exactly like Kingdom Hearts I & II. You run around with the normal buttons, and navigate the action menu with the other buttons. This works suprisingly well most of the time.
The game also uses a unique level-up system, where you have a set number of slots, and you can fill up those slots with stat-boosters, lvl-ups, items, magic, weapons, and so on. While surprisingly interesting, and a nice change of pace, I wish they had done more with it. They never really tapped into the full potential of the system.

For a DS game, the graphics are fantastic--the best I've seen on the platform. The cutscenes, whether prerendered or in-game, are wonderfully done. Most of the prerendered ones are better than the original Kingdom Hearts'. The sound, however, was mostly just a mish-mash of other tunes from the Kingdom Hearts franchise from what I could tell. I'm not an audiophile, so I can't really tell. The music definitely didn't "wow" me, though.

Probably the most painful thing is the level design. There are fewer worlds than in the original Kingdom Hearts, with no new ones, and they all have about 7 rooms. "Neverland" is two rooms. Many of the rooms are huge, but they don't fill them with anything--they're very bare. Every day in the game, you go out to a world and fight a couple heartless. Or fight a big heartless. Or look around. And that's about it. There's not really any exploring to do, since the worlds are so small. The treasures in the game are so pitiful that even the easiest ones to find are barely worth the trouble. Then you do that over and over and over again. The only other thing in the game to break up the monotony is the cutscenes.

The cutscenes do their job, though. This game has a great story, and I genuinely cared about most of the main characters. The ending caught me by surprise, and I was glad to see so many of the loose threads from earlier Kingdom Hearts games tied up. The only thing I didn't like about the cutscenes is the sea salt ice-cream scene. After almost every day, after you finish your mission, a cutscene is shown where you go eat sea salt ice-cream on the clock tower in Twilight Town. I loved the ongoing sea salt ice cream scenes in earlier games/graphic novels, but I quickly grew tired of it here. That didn't stop the developers from making me watch that same ice cream scene more than a hundred times, though.

When it comes to replay value, the game's monotony fails it again. While there's still tons to do after you finish the story mode, you probably won't want to do any of it, as nothing new gameplay-wise is introduced. The light difficulty (interrupted by huge leaps in difficulty during a couple boss fights) doesn't help this at all.

I'm a big fan of the Kingdom Hearts series, and this game added some excellent features. But this game is so painfully monotonous, and even though I loved watching the story unfold, I had to force myself to keep playing through to the end.
