My kids love this game although it is easier played on DS Aug 09, 2010 My kids love playing this game (10 and 5 yrs old). My 10 yr old has an easier time with 'drawing' the pictures she wants on the Wii, while my 5 yr old asks for her help a lot of time because drawing using only the Wii-mote can be very tricky. It is definitely much easier to draw and play on the DS but the Wii version is fun once you get the hang of it.
You start the game by drawing your own character that will play the game. Then throughout the game you have to draw your own things (platform, heart, log...) that assist you in getting to where you need to go. Plus other random free draw squares to complete parts or move on. The kids enjoy seeing their own drawings come to life on the screen (butterflies really fly after they are drawn). I recommend this game to anyone with kids that enjoy being creative and drawing.
Qwert Jun 20, 2010 My hero is an interesting character. I found the intro unusal. The game starts off with the little people asking for their creator and praying to the creator...mmm...do they refer to us as gods? I believe so as we are the ones designing the hero. Although, I have not gotten very far, I found the game rather entertaining. It is neat to see the items I draw appear and get use in a game I play. The downer: the intro is long, the game seems long, and the creator story line with Wilfry(sp). Not entirely adequate I think for kids. I haven't played the first version of this game. So, I really have little to base this on. Looking forward to the end, but what I have seen of the enemies and levels they are pretty easy and enjoyable. Qwert- has one leg and an orange head...with red eyes and eyebrows. I didn't draw him, as well as, I wanted to.I found out that using the shrink dot paintbrush and zoom control works best. Oh, and one side note: when you get going in the levels, (your hero...well...may loose his clothes), that is the alternative to lives. If you want a comparision of games I tend to liken this to the following: Zelda, Spiritual Warefare(NES/Christian Zelda alternatives).
(Note: Not a die hard game player...status: very casual.Hope this helps.)

Good game but frustrating for little kids Apr 08, 2010 We just bought the game and have just started playing it but I think we've played enough to offer a review / and a word of caution.
First off, the game looks great, the drawing tool is fun to use (though took a little getting used to). It's a bit tough to draw picture perfect characters and object using the wiimote but the imperfectness of the characters and other objects you draw actually adds to the charm of this game.
Now for the not so good part:
I bought this game for my grand kids (well for the eight years old anyway, I knew it would be difficult for my 5 years old) and while they really liked the fact that they can help to create the world around them; they also loved the graphics and the story; the gameplay proved too frustrating. I'm surprised that a game for young children would include limited lives during quests, and omits the ability to save the game during a quest.
During the various quests, your character starts off with 2 lives and picks up and looses lives as the quest goes on. If a young player dies (or gets sent to bed) before completing a quest, they have to start over. I'm not sure that having limited lives adds to the gameplay when the game is played by younger kids. The status of the various quests are also not well defined. By that I mean that it is unclear how far into the quest your character is. Some quests tells you to find traces of another character but you have no idea how many you have to find or how many you have found.
The game is fun for older kids and their grand parents. We really liked the fact that we get to help crete and beautiful to look at and not bad to play for older kids , but for kids 10 and younger, it can be frustrating.

Great! Mar 29, 2010 I purchased this game for my 9 year old son. He absolutely loves it. How many games can you create your own character and play with it? How much fun to watch him drawing different objects that are then used in the game. Great Idea, Great Game. He also has it for DS. Nothing bad to say at all.

Parents Watch Out! Should not be rated E for Everyone Feb 18, 2010 My 10 year old daughter was so traumatized by the ending that all she could do
was sit, shake and cry after finishing the game. She didn't want to talk about it, but
eventually opened up. It was a very sad ending in which parents die - traumatic enough
for any kid. However, the worst part of the game is that it has kids pick (multiple choice style) at the beginning the way in which the parents die. My 10 year old felt responsible
for the deaths because she had picked certain things at the beginning of the game.
I don't know what the designers could possibly be thinking!
Note: my daughter is not extremely sensitive - she watched Goosebumps, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean etc., with no problem. She's usually the first to say "Oh Mom, it's only a movie". If it bothered her this much, it's bound to really upset a kid that's used to G ratings. Parents, in a nutshell, there are better games without the risk of severe emotional trauma - do yourself and your child a favor and just find something else for them to play.
