Not as bad as I thought it'd be (6 year old girl) Jul 24, 2010 My 6 year old daughter told me about this game because she played it using a friend's DSi. By her description, I thought it'd be boring, but we bought it anyways and I have to say it is not so bad. She likes it and plays with it without getting bored after 1 minute, as I thought it would happen. It is not the most fun either, of course.
It's Cooking Time Jun 28, 2010 If you are looking for a super challenge go else where. I loved this game for the fact that it was just simple cooking fun. You get to chop, slice, dice, mix and many other cooking functions. Doesn't teach you how to actually cook; this is just a ddr version of cooking basically. Once you get the hang of doing each function it makes game play a lot smoother. Also, it was neat that they give you the option mid-cooking a recipe whether you want to subsitute or add other items to make a whole other dish. The practice option came in handy for some of the less simple functions. Some of the tasks you do are timed while others you finish when you finish.

I think I get more mad than anything... May 02, 2010 Of the mama games available, this one is the worst. The time limits allowed are almost impossible to get gold for a lot of the activities. The graphics themselves are cutesy and the overall look of it is clean. It doesn't have any voice overs though which means that it doesn't use the full capabilities of the system. I have had this game for a few months now, have tried most of the recipes available, and have only completed about 5 of them because I get too frustrated with it and turn the system off without completing the other recipes. As a game developer, I have found so many bugs within this game and with the game play itself that it definitely hasn't been worth buying even at only $20.
I would recommend this game to those who don't really care whether or not they get bronze, silver, or gold medals throughout this game. You'll never receive 100% on all of the recipes unless all you do is practice every single activity over and over again until you get so bored with it that you won't want to play it for a week anyway.

Did nobody find those fiery eyes disturbing? Apr 16, 2010 There are three good things about this game:
1) Some of the graphics in the game are neat
2) Actually gives you ideas for real meals if you're not much of a cook!
3) and the ability to unlock new recipes is a plus
However I find there are too many more "cons" than pros:
1) the fire in her eyes when you fail scares my 4-yr old niece, (the other kids aren't scared but they're not happy with it either) of course she still comes back to play sometimes...but really why did they find it necessary to put that in...?
2) Sometimes no matter how well you think you've followed the instructions/stylus movements, especially when it comes to mixing/stirring etc you still get a less than perfect score- what's up with that?
3) One particular recipe tells you NOT to put too much filling yet the only time you score well (i.e. do not fail) is when you do just that!
4) The combos are the most unimaginative ever, so I never bother to use the option to combine anything anymore.
5) A feature of several dishes, the straining of any boiled item is programmed for failure or meagre results because of the position of the pot over the strainer, bad game design I guess.
6) I know 30 minute meals are all rage since Rachael Ray (whom I love to watch btw) but that does not mean that every cook must work with a time constraint, and certainly not newbie cooks. I find a lot of the cooking times in this game are set to be too fast so that persons now learning, or smaller kids, have to spend more time in practise mode than really necessary if the game had simply been better designed to accomodate newbies.
7) Why are there no desserts?
The game is not a favorite in my home, although the kids will try it from time to time. It's a brilliant concept but not very well executed in this particular game.
Cooking Mama Fun! Apr 01, 2010 My six-year-old daughter and I just can't put this game down. She absolutely loves it! The concept and skills are easy enough for her to learn and the various stages offer a challenge. I highly recommend this game!
